This is the first chapter of my science fiction novel, Hybrid. In the far future, a boy named Alexander was born with incredible strength, speed, and agility, and a mind of a thousand scholars. He knows what his traits and abilities, but he does not know one thing, his origin. As he begins his search, he and his protectors are being hunted down by an empire of notorious killing machines known as the Helbots. They have been created by an ancient evil deity who wants to take over the Universe. When all civilizations across the Milky Way Galaxy stand against this terrible galactic threat, Alexander finds out he's a hybrid descendant of humanity and one of the galaxy's oldest and noblest race; the Spacers. Can his link to the godlike Spacers of mythology be the key to end the war?
I hope you enjoy this story!
Prologue:
The Last Battle
White skinned, blue-eyed beings known as the Spacers ran across the rocky desert as they were pursued by their ruthless enemies, the Titans. Clad in bulky plate-mail and wielding plasma weaponry, the tall grey-skinned Titans were slaughtering everyone in their path. The Spacers fired their particle beam rifles as they ran. A few of them stopped and threw grenades releasing powerful gamma explosions to vaporize the squad. A few of them backed away, having their armor torn apart revealing their glowing open wounds.
From afar, the soldiers caught a glimpse of what looked like half of a step pyramid made of iron. Seeing that, they knew they were approaching their bunker. Tanks shaped like spiders crawled out of the soil in front of them. With shift and speed, they leaped on to them and tossed their last grenades into the main guns. Quickly they jumped off and took cover just as the tanks exploded.
The hiding Spacers in the bunker grabbed all of the ionic machine guns from the armory and aimed them out of the openings. On their scope, they spotted three of their comrades running to them with a wave of Titans behind. Two of them opened the bunker and fired with their cosmic launchers. Balls of lightning shot out of the weapons ripping enemy ships apart. The running Spacers sprinted to the open doors and sealed themselves in.
One of them touched a communicator which was inserted in his ear, "Captain Carato, this is Corporal Fedlo! We have been pinned down North of the Atla Region!"
Captain Carato ordered, "Councilor Feidlima and her army are heading to your location gathering all the survivors! Once she finds you, follow her into the ark! Hold the Titans off as long as you can!""
They continued to fire their cosmic launchers at more Titan fighter ships and army after they got their friends inside. More tanks burst out of the dunes to blow up the bunker. The incoming army fired at the opening of the bunker and hit a couple of magazines, releasing massive sparks electrifying some of the Spacers to death.
Then the opponent side was transformed into a frozen landscape. More Titans stepped onto the ice and were turned to frozen statues. A woman dressed in a bulky diamond full battle suit, suddenly stepped out of the ice cap.
A few more Titans dived from their ships and she fired ice balls at them. As the projectiles struck them, they froze and smashed into pieces as their bodies crashed to the surface. She stomped on the ground and stakes of ice pinned more of them. A couple of surviving Titans charged at her, but blades of ice shot out of her arms and impaled them.
After she had disposed of them all, she triumphantly entered the bunker. Fedlo and the others slightly bowed to his councilor and said, "Councilor Feidlima, twenty-five of my soldiers have been lost."
"You did what you could do," Feidlima slightly nodded. "Now, we must gather all of the survivors into one of the arks. Councilor Cade had his men hack the Titans' gates, transporting every last one into this star system."
Fedlo's eyes widened with shock finding it insane, "All of you transported them from across the galaxy to here? They will wipe us out!"
"If we don't activate the portal in time," she warned them. "Now hurry!"
Under her order, they exited through the back of the bunker and headed towards the Ark. As they traveled for eight miles on their convoy, all that was around them were mountains of ash and dust releasing columns of smoke into the sky. The ground shook from the ship's lasers causing each vehicle to skid. Within minutes, they made to the base of the ark which looked like a golden pyramid. Fedlo's men rushed out of the convoy and headed to the top while Feidlima stood behind freezing everything. A couple of Titan fighter ships locked their target on her, but a male Spacer shot them down with lightning bolts.
Feidlima ran up to him and said, "Thank you, Judus!"
Judus grabbed her hand, " Come on, We have to get inside!"
They looked up and saw three more portals opened up releasing more waves of Titan ships. The remaining Spacer fleet hovered above the Ark. The rest of the council Teutor, Cuno, and their leader Cade were guarding the entrance at the top as they waited for Feidlima and Judus.
Once everyone was together, they rushed inside just as the Titans were closing in on them. The control room was constructed of glass, with all the systems at the very center along with a map of their star system. The Council gathered around the controls and a holographic image of a ring appeared above the map.
"This is it," said Cade. "It is time for Seiton and his minions to be banished into Tartarus!"
I am using our Spacer gate as an engine for the Ark to get us out of here before we get trapped," said Teutor as he quickly punched in codes at the side of the control panels.
"Activate the portal now!" Feidlima urged.
Five domes emerged from the panels. Feidlima touched a blue dome, Teutor touched a purple dome, Cuno touched a red dome, Judus touched a yellow dome, and Cade touched a green dome. Hundreds of moon-sized panels circled around the star system creating a ring and a large vortex appeared pulling in all the Titan ships and everything else.
As their planet was being pulled in, a control panels was split in half and a glowing white column emerged. An alarm went off indicating that someone was trying to contact the Council. As they answered it, an image of Seiton, the leader of the Titans appeared before them. Seiton's eyes glowed red with anger as he looked at the Council.
"Spacers!" Seiton snarled. "What have you done?"
"Banished you out of the galaxy!" Cade shouted.
"That will never stop me, I will return to this galaxy once again. I will find the galaxy's source and recreate the universe," Seiton warned them.
Feidlima looked into Seiton's devilish eyes, clutched her eyes, and fell to the floor. Cade touched the glowing column and the Spacer gate launched them out to safety. Seiton snarled as his transmission was ending, "This war is not over!"
When everyone assumed the conflict was over, they watched as the star system was entirely consumed and the ring was shattered into dust. All of the Titans were gone; the Spacers seemed to have won the war.
They got Feidlima up and she slowly to open her eyes. Her tears poured out like a fountain. Teutor helped her to a bench as she tried to calm down. Cade came up to her and asked, "What happened?"
Feidlima spoke as she tried to breathe, "I looked into his eyes and saw the future of our fate."
"What do you mean? The war is over," said Cuno.
"No, it is not! Seiton will kill us all!" she cried and clutched her hair as if she tried to get rid of the vision.
"We banished him!" Teutor shouted. "He and his Titans will never come back!"
"Tell us more about this vision you had," said Cade.
Feidlima took a couple breaths and wiped her eyes, "He will return to our galaxy and link himself into many different networks and turn every piece of technology against our kin. Then, he will have access to the Source and the Universe will be consumed."
The Council looked at each other trying to figure out what they must do. Banishing Seiton was thought to be the best way to end the war.
"What else did you see in the vision?" Cade asked.
"I did see other worlds inhabited with a variety of new beings similar to us, but we never interacted with them," said Feidlima.
Cade took a minute to think and said, "If Seiton returns, then we and the primitives shall all be ready for him."
"How?" Judus asked.
Cade explained, "We shall meet them face to face and cultivate them into civilization. Once their civilizations are established, their technology will grow to be as advanced as ours. With our guidance and their technological advancement, they would come together and assemble the most powerful legion the galaxy has ever seen. When he returns, the Titans will be defeated forever and we will finally have peace."
"But what if we don't survive to that time?" Feidlima was worried.
"We have to," said Cade. "Otherwise, the primitives will all die."
